Carlos Delgado is the greatest player ever to be one-and-done in Hall of Fame voting. The Puerto Rico native is one of only 8 men to have at least 9 straight seasons of 30 or more homers. The list is peppered with the game’s greatest players.
Delgado’s career numbers stack up nicely. His 473 homers and 1,512 runs batted in rank the top 60 in baseball history. They also put Delgado atop the list of players born in Puerto Rico.
For a 13-year run from 1996-2008, Delgado was an offensive force. He averaged 35 homers and 112 RBI in that span while posting an OPS+ of 140. His hit .282 with a .386 on-base percentage during that run.
When Delgado became eligible for the ballot, many believed it was a matter of time until he was elected. Instead, Delgado earned 3.8% of the vote and was dropped from the Cooperstown ballot.
In the collection is a contract extension between Topps chewing gem and Carlos Delgado. Singed on February 24, 2004, he contract ran his final season in 2009.

In 2000 Carlos Delgado earned the honor. That year he led the AL with 57 doubles and 378 total bases to go along with his 41 homers and 137 runs batted in. His slash line was .344/.470/.664.

True…because of his political views…the voters let him out of the HOF. Also, played with Toronto, didn’t help his case. But I’m with you.
